Thanks to the expansion of its production capacities and the most recent acquisitions, Datwyler is in a strong position strategically to tap into the attractive potential for growth in the markets it serves. In the immediate future, Datwyler will place a clear focus on achieving profitable organic growth by scaling the business model and production capacities and on strengthening the balance sheet. The large number of promising new projects with existing and new customers shows that growth trends are intact. For that reason, Datwyler confirms the medium-term objectives communicated to date.

Half-Year Results 2023

In the first half of 2023, Datwyler increased revenue to CHF 602.7 million in a challenging environment. Adjusted for currency and acquisition effects, this equates to solid organic growth of 5.6%. The almost complete loss of the high-margin Covid business and destocking by customers led to underutilization at the recently expanded plants. EBIT and the EBIT margin declined to CHF 60.5 million and 10.0%, respectively. However, the growth trends in the markets are intact, as is shown by the large number of promising new projects with existing and new customers in all the markets served.

Datwyler Event | Feb 9, 2023

Datwyler increased its revenue from continuing operations by 21.4% to CHF 1'150.6 million in 2022. Adjusted for currency effects and acquisitions, this equates to organic growth of 10.4%. With an operating result (EBIT) of CHF 149.2 million, Datwyler’s EBIT margin was 13.0%, achieving the objective communicated in May. The Annual General Meeting will be asked to approve a cash dividend of CHF 3.20 per bearer share, which corresponds to a payout ratio of 51.9%. Through the acquisitions of QSR and Xinhui, the second healthcare plant in India and progress with growth and innovation projects, Datwyler has further strengthened its strategic position. For 2023, Datwyler is aiming to improve its business result.

At the (external: https://www.aachener-kolloquium.de/en/ text: 31st Aachen Colloquium for Sustainable Mobility), which was held from 10-12 October 2022, Datwyler, FEV Europe GmbH and the Fraunhofer UMSICHT presented a detailed paper on the development of the BiFoilStack – a Novel cell and stack design with compound-foil-based bipolar plates for heavy-duty fuel cell systems. Heavy-duty commercial vehicles require fuel cells with a service life in excess of 30,000 hours, which historically has been challenging for many components – particularly metallic bipolar plates, which can corrode in the humid and acidic environment of the cell.
