As customer demand increases for innovative, sustainable O-Ring solutions, Datwyler is expanding its production capabilities with new molding machines installed at its sites in China and Mexico. Capable of producing thousands of O-Rings every hour, the new machines will use the latest injection molding technology to produce top quality elastomer components for applications such as battery thermal management, power electronics, transmission, sensors, plus electric braking and driveline systems. Further potential solutions for customers from different industries are also being evaluated.

Datwyler, together with the development partner Empa, has developed and patented an industrial process for surface modification of microfibrillated cellulose (MFC). The modified MFC can be used to substitute petroleum-based aramid fibers as fillers in elastomer compounds. Fillers derived from organic cellulose increase the sustainability of elastomer products.

Datwyler is strengthening its position with the innovative future technology of electroactive polymers and has secured this with corresponding patents. Electroactive polymers in a unique stacked design enable completely new applications in the car of the future and in the markets of the General Industry business unit. Examples include thermal management in electric vehicle batteries or haptic feedback and morphing surfaces in human-machine interface applications.
